Greenville Hospital System Children’s Advocacy and The  USC Children’s Law Center are excited to offer to the community a FREE training on Wednesday April 16, 2014, “Mandated Reporters:  Your Legal Duty to Speak for an Abused Child”, held at Greenville Memorial Hospital located at 701 Grove Rd., Greenville, SC 29605, in the Medical Staff Auditorium.

Candice Lively the Senior Resource Attorney for the USC Children’s Law Center will lead the training and a team of experts from the solicitor’s office, law enforcement, DSS and the Julie Valentine Center as they answer your questions on our duty to report an abuse of a child and the process that follows.

There will be 3 sessions offered to accommodate your schedule (you need only attend 1 session. The morning and afternoon sessions are the same);

Session 1 – Targeting any professional working with children (Including but not limited to, nurses, physicians, social workers, case workers, teachers, principals, childcare workers, coaches, faith based organizations,  law enforcement etc…)
* 9:00 a.m. – 11:45 a.m. – “What is your role under the law as a Mandated Reporter?” “What happens after you make the Report?”

Session 2 – targeting Physicians/Nurse Practitioners/ Nurses/Physician Assistants and is open to the general public – lunch will be provided

12:00 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. – “The Multidisciplinary Response to a Report of Child Abuse” Presented as a Panel Discussion

Session 3 – Targeting any professional working with children (Including but not limited to, physicians, nurses, social workers, case workers, teachers, principals, childcare workers, coaches, faith based organizations, law enforcement,  etc…)
* 1:45 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. -“What is your role under the law as a Mandated Reporter?”, “What happens after you make the Report?”

CEU’s/CLEs are available and CME’s are in the process of being approved for this training.
